Two closely linked markets

Much of the world’s sulphur is recovered during oil and gas processing, and most of it is used to make sulphuric acid, a key ingredient in phosphate fertiliser production. The two markets are closely connected, which is why we handle them together.

Fertiliser demand follows the planting seasons of each region, so timing, packaging and logistics matter as much as price. We take care to understand all of these when discussing an enquiry.

Commodities covered

Fertilisers

Nitrogen, phosphate, potash and compound fertilisers that support crop yields in agricultural markets worldwide.

Enquiries commonly concern

  • Urea, granular or prilled
  • Ammonium sulphate
  • Phosphates such as DAP and MAP
  • Potash (muriate of potash)
  • NPK compound fertilisers

Sulphur

A widely traded raw material, used mainly to produce sulphuric acid for fertiliser manufacture and industrial processes.

Enquiries commonly concern

  • Granular sulphur
  • Lump sulphur
  • Prilled sulphur
  • Molten sulphur

Benefits

What our fertiliser and sulphur broking provides

  • Seasonal awareness

Enquiries are discussed with the planting calendar in mind, so that delivery timing supports the end use.

  • Product and form clarity

Fertiliser products and sulphur forms differ in handling and application. Confirming them precisely avoids costly mismatches.

  • Packaging and logistics

Bulk and bagged supply involve different logistics, and both are considered when a requirement is discussed.

  • Linked markets, one conversation

Because sulphur and fertilisers are closely connected, related requirements can be discussed in a single conversation.

How it works

How a fertiliser enquiry progresses

Seasonal timing shapes most fertiliser discussions, so we raise it from the very start.

  1. Understand the season

We establish when the product is needed and work back from that date, taking account of shipping and lead times.

  2. Confirm product and packaging

Product, specification, quantity and packaging, whether bulk or bagged, are confirmed and noted.

  3. Confirm the parties

Company information is exchanged so that each side knows who it is dealing with before introductions are made.

  4. Discuss and agree next steps

Terms are discussed between buyer and seller, and the agreed next steps are confirmed clearly.

Seasonality and lead times

Fertiliser application is tied to planting seasons that differ between the northern and southern hemispheres. Demand, freight availability and delivery windows can all tighten as a season approaches.

Raising an enquiry with realistic lead times leaves more room to discuss specification, logistics and delivery, and keeps the conversation practical for everyone involved.

FAQs

Fertilisers and sulphur: common questions

More general questions are answered on our FAQs page.

Which fertilisers can I enquire about?

Enquiries commonly concern nitrogen fertilisers such as urea and ammonium sulphate, phosphates such as DAP and MAP, potash and NPK compound fertilisers. Please call to discuss your specific requirement.

Are fertilisers supplied in bulk or in bags?

Fertilisers are traded both in bulk and in bags of various sizes. Let us know your packaging requirement when you enquire, as it affects logistics and delivery.

What sulphur specification is typical?
